Invited artist: MARTYNA SZCZESNA
Urban Green
stained glass
Years of riding in the city have honed my awareness; smudged, graded and blurred as it is. In the thrall of speed and adrenaline, what little green exists here and there is never enough, stretches and grows across the grid in a nod to something pastoral, even free.
Martyna Szczęsna (b. Olsztyn, Poland) is a multi-disciplinary artist working with photography and sculpture. She completed her MFA studies at UCLA and is a graduate of the Cooper Union. Szczęsna lives and works in Brooklyn.
Select exhibitions include: ARRAY at Penumbra Foundation, If Rittenhouse-- at Callicoon Fine Arts and Portrait of a Landscape at the Museo Sivori, BsAs.
Her work has been supported by residencies at Yucca Valley Material Lab, Franconia Sculpture Park and The Watermill Center.
