Artist Statement:

Forgetting Home, 2024

Mixed Media College and Poetry

Forgetting Home is a mixed-media collage divided down the middle, with each half depicting views from places the artist has called home. The imagery reflects blurred and corrupted fragments of memories—familiar windows, surroundings, chairs. The stitching symbolizes the imperfect but necessary process of reconciling the changes in identity to construct a feeling of belonging.

Accompanying the piece is the poem:

Forgetting the marbles,

for a better kind of stone;

I will remember

again

Remembering

what they felt like,

the marbles

at home

Before forgetting

again
